Roux is 6 Months Old!

Roux, our beloved golden retriever puppy, has blossomed into a six-month-old bundle of joy. While everyone seems to think their dog is the most amazing, we can confidently say that ours really is.

Her beauty is undeniable, but her most charming feature is undoubtedly her crimped fur on her ears. It’s like she’s sporting tiny, adorable waves!

The list of incredible things Roux can do is seemingly endless. One of our favorite tricks is her ability to wait patiently for the command “free” before taking a treat from our hand. We can even rattle off a bunch of other words, and she won’t budge.

She’s a quick learner, mastering commands like paw, sit, come, and even putting her head through her harness on her own. And she’s a natural with our cat, Micca. We’re currently training her to find Micca whenever she escapes.

Roux is a natural-born retriever, picking up things with ease. She’s also a seasoned camper, having experienced her first taste of water on a recent trip. Roux is a great car rider, too.

She’s a well-behaved pup, sitting patiently when someone approaches until she’s given the go-ahead to greet. And when she meets people, she sits, leans into them, and looks up at them with such love that it brightens everyone’s day.

She’s friendly with all other animals, even showing no interest in chasing squirrels or rabbits. Instead, she prefers to watch birds with fascination.

She’s comfortable with grooming, though baths aren’t her favourite.

And unlike some goldens we’ve heard about, she’s gentle with her toys. Her mischief mainly involves stealing socks but she doesn’t destroy them. However, she also likes stealing tissues, which she unfortunately, will eat. She also steals chairs — and laughs about it! Here she is showing off for cousin Sophie.

If something spooks her, she will back away and evaluate her approach and then check it out cautiously.  She’s also potty-trained, doing her business on command.

Roux, our golden retriever wonder, has filled our lives with joy and laughter. We’re so grateful for this amazing pup!
