The ‘Furries’ First Camping Adventure

Micca, our cat and Roux, our 5-month old puppy, embarked on their first camping trip. With their carriers securely strapped down and stocked with treats and water, we set off on this exciting adventure.

The journey was mostly smooth sailing, except for Micca’s minor accident in her carrier. After a quick cleanup, we were back on the road. Roux was quite content on the drive but Micca was a bit more anxious.

Arriving at 20 Mile Bay, we faced some very strong winds. Despite the hasty setup, we managed to get the tent up before the rain started pouring. The next morning, we woke up to even stronger winds, which meant big waves. Roux was repeatedly chased back from the water by the waves. As the day went one, she became braver. With some coaxing, she finally joined me in the shallows, clinging to my pool noodle for dear life.

Micca also had her own adventures. When we first put on her harness, she seemed paralyzed. However, curiosity got the better of her, and she started exploring. Her bravery reached new heights when she began climbing a tree, which caused me to panic and bring her back to the safety of the camper.

On the final day, we enjoyed beautiful weather and could have stayed another day. However, we had a commitment to take our vintage car to an event at a seniors’ home. Since there was no rush to get home the day before, we stayed until late afternoon.

This camping trip was a memorable experience for all of us. Micca and Roux had a blast exploring the outdoors, and we created lasting memories. They were happy to be home but I am sure longing to get back out there.
