A Cross-Stitch Odyssey
I thought it was high time to share something other than our furry friends, Roux and Micca. So, let’s dive into a bit of a personal project: my cross-stitch journey.
My son picked out the Fractal 722 chart, and I started this ambitious project back in December 2021. After many breaks, travels, and life’s little interruptions, I finally finished it on November 5, 2024.
This intricate design required over 100,000 stitches (probably more, considering the amount of “frogging” involved) and 54 different thread colours stitched on 40ct linen!
Furry Adventures
While I was busy with my cross-stitch, our furry companions were growing and learning. Roux, our golden retriever, is constantly surprising us with her intelligence and cuteness. She’s mastered commands such as ‘guard’ when she sits facing forward between your legs. If you move forward, backward, or sideways, she moves with you; if you say ‘bongos’, she turns around so she is facing backwards between your legs. This is so that you can pat her on her butt. If you give the ‘eyes’ command, she will look directly at you. She will give you a paw, then the other paw and, of course, ‘sit pretty’.
This is Roux practising her ‘think’ command.
If you put food down, she will not take it until you give her the okay.
Micca, our mischievous cat, has her own unique way of keeping us entertained. Whenever we leave, she proceeds to deposit everyone of her toys around the living room. She has determined that this nice big fluffy bed is just her size and has claimed it for her own. She is willing to share, of course.
I find it hilarious how she is so obsessed with Roux. She follows her everywhere and will meowing relentlessly if she feels its time for Roux to wake up from naps.
So, there you have it: a bit of cross-stitch and a whole lot of furry fun!
Hours on endless fun.
