We are beyond thrilled to announce the newest addition to our family: a 10-week-old Golden Retriever puppy named Bechamel (or “Becha” for short)! Get it … Roux – Bechamel?

If you’ve been following along, you already know Roux, our 2-year-old Golden Retriever, and Micca, our 3-year-old super cat.
As for how the dynamic is shifting at home, Micca has accepted Becha with her usual nonchalance. She doesn’t hold back at all and casually struts right past him, even when he’s bursting with peak puppy enthusiasm. Roux, on the other hand, is quite a bit more wary of this wild little fluffy creature! They are starting to play a bit now, but strictly on Roux’s terms.

We drove down to Osoyoos to pick Becha up, and as you might expect, the wildfire smoke along the way was horrendous. The thick haze has put a serious damper on our outdoor plans lately, so we haven’t been able to go camping anywhere near as much as we’d like—much to Micca’s absolute chagrin.
I know Micca misses her regular forest walks with Roux, because when we left for a walk with the dogs recently, we turned around to find her trailing right behind us! Of course, we had to turn her back. As much as we love her adventurous spirit, we definitely don’t want her expanding what she considers to be her backyard territory.
Speaking of local wildlife, we spotted this entire family perched on our neighboor’s fence the other day:

Because of these masked visitors, we’ve decided to get a yard camera to keep an eye on who else is slinking around and thinking they can compete for residence here.
Life is about to get a whole lot busier, sweeter, and extra fluffy with little Becha in the mix. Stay tuned for plenty more updates as our trio gets used to each other!
