Our day in Carcross started out with a stroll around this charming town.

Once refreshed, we embarked on our hike on the ‘Sam McGee Trail’ of the Robert Service fame. The information said it was 9km and moderate. Perfect! However they left out the part that it was constant 618 m uphill climb. I only made it about half way.
The trail followed remnants of the tramway that was built in 1905 hinting at a mining history.

The allure of finding an abandoned mine spurred Evan on. We knew there was a woman with her two kids ahead so we knew he wouldn’t be alone. So, armed with his bear spray off he went.
It was more than even he bargaining for. He hiked for 3 hours before he got to the summit. There was no mine.
However he came back with fabulous photos of his trek.
