Right in my own back yard…

We often hear people comment that they never seem to see the wonders around where they live.  We had decided, a while back, to explore BC and now have a few wee road trips to cross off our ‘bucket list’.  We sure do seem to be lucky when it comes to encountering good weather when we venture out.  (Darn…wish I hadn’t said that out loud).

We drove my daughter to Whitecliff Park for her scuba lesson.  Yes, it was in the ocean and yes, it is winter and no, not for me.  But our little walk was lovely (and warm and dry).

You can hardly see the ocean for the trees.  I continue to be amazed at the photos we can take with our phone.

After exploring Whitecliff Park, we headed up to Porteau Cove.  We walked around here a bit, saw more divers and took a boo at the campsite we reserved for spring break.  Although it was the last one available, it turns out … it is perfect!  It is by the ocean, has a view and has trees on both sides to protect us from the wind (and potentially noisy neighbours).

From here, we went to Shannon Falls.  I have driven by many times on my way to Squamish or Whistler but never stopped.  We did this time and I am glad we did.  There is just something magical about waterfalls.

We stopped in Squamish to visit friends and then headed home.  That sounds uneventful however, no matter how many times I drive the Sea-to-Sky highway, the scenery never ceases to amaze me.

All in all, a good time was had by all!  Another lovely day in BC.  It just doesn’t get better than this!  But we will keep exploring.

    • Thanks! And I am not even a photographer! Our hope is to explore even more but with such a short season (especially when we plan to go across Canada from May to September), we may run out of time.
